Melbourne Cup watching

We watched the Melbourne cup and EV and KT put on some fancy hats. EV even brought in her own horse. Although she wasn't terribly interested in the race. KT ended up picking the winning horse, but didn't actually put any money on it.

Trick or treating in 2022

We took the kids to go trick or treating with good success. They also enjoyed handing out lollies to other kids, particularly once it started getting cloudy and stormy. They wanted to stay close to the house. Luckily the rain held off and everyone had a good time celebrating. The costumes, the house decorations and people's attitudes were really good.

2022 Halloween costumes

The girls were quite proud to debut their pumpkins and even more so their costumes for this year. There was EV and KT dressed as Christmas. SV was a bunny warrior of her own design. MV was a gothic witch, no hat.

Finishing up at the festa

After we walked through the whole festa we ended up taking a bit of a break at the park. The girls ran around on the playground and caught up with friends. KT met us there and we took one more turn through the stalls. The girls got to play the duck fishing game one the way out, but some tears were shed about one of the prizes. Mostly because it was a big day and everyone was quite tired.

2022 Leichhardt Festa

The Leichhardt Festa was back again this year, and it was bigger than ever. Even the Prime Minister stopped by, helps that he is a local. The girls had a great time exploring all of the stalls and taking photographs. It was good fun although there were heaps of people.

Playing with presents

The next day the girls started playing with some of the presents that SV got from her friends. There were quite a few and all of them were excellent.

Carving the 2022 pumpkins

We learned the hard way in past years that you can't carve the pumpkins too far in advance in Sydney because of the heat and humidity. Otherwise you risk getting a mouldy soggy mess on Halloween. This year we carved them the day before and stored them inside. The girls enjoyed drawing on their pumpkins. They enjoyed the initial cutting but their patience with it was inversely proportional to age. The scooping of the guts was not enjoyed by anyone. Tune in tomorrow to see how they turned out.
