We got to spend some good quality time with the family. There was lots of conversation and playing and perhaps a little bit of boredom on the part of the girls. They did get to create necklaces at Teta Andula's house. She always had some interesting project for them to work on.
Before we arrived in Stara Tura we had a look at a spring celebration which took place in the square and then at the stream or potok. In the celebration an effigy of a woman is thrown into the stream to be carried away on the current along with winter. We went to explore the potok to see whether we could see any animals down there. We didn't really see anything on this occasion but we did find the effigy which was caught on some reeds in the stream.
The girls got to go to their favourite playground here, also a convenient one as it is really close to Teta Andula. The girls remembered the playground and again had a great time playing on it. Being in the middle of the day, they had it all to themselves as well. We also looked at the Easter display in the square since it had a bunny in it.
The girls got to experience a bit of Slovak Easter celebrations. Teta Andula gave them a little whipping to before giving them some chocolates. We also gave her a little something which she really appreciated. The girls then played games until it was time to have some dinner. After dinner Teta Andula had a wonderful dessert, pampusiks.
The snow angels continued as we made our way to the top of Javorina where the tv tower stands. We walked around a bit more to look at the memorial to the partisans there before venturing briefly into Moravia which is the eastern part of Czech Republic. At one point EV stood on the border and had one foot in each country.
It was still quite cold and a little bit of snow was left at the top of the nearby ski slope, Javorina. We took Teta Andula and headed up for a bit of a play. We didn't even get out of the car park before a big snowball fight erupted. The girls at first fought against Teta Andula, but it quickly turned into a free-for-all. The snow throwing continued even as we walked up the hill. More peaceful activities like the making of snow angels were taking place too.
We brought a little bit of our Aussie Easter tradition to Slovakia in the form of a garden easter egg hunt. Naggy and Teta Anka got a kick out of watching the girls searching for the eggs and various other lollies. New and larger yard presented some challenges but in the end SV claimed her 11th straight win as she pointed out. Afterwards they put all of the spoils together and divided them equally as per usual.
