Čičmany

On the way back to Stara Tura we stopped in the Slovak village of Čičmany which is rightfully famous for it's uniqe black wooden houses with white designs. We almost had the entire village to ourselves because it was mid week. It was very lovely.

Horse ride and pidgeons

Since it was almost SV's birthday and she chose the horse carriage ride as her souvenier, we went for a ride around the old town. It was pretty fancy actually, if a bit chilly. Luckily blankets were provided and we enjoyed ourselves. Afterwards on the main square a flock of pigeons was being fed and a random lady gave the girls some bread so they could participate. Afterwards everyone had a very good was of the hands before we sat down to some lovely sandwiches.

Walking through Krakow

We had most of the day to spend in Krakow so we walked through the old town. There was heaps to do for tourists like us. We went into Bazylika Mariacka because when Babicka was there last time there was work being done to restore the inside. Several decades later and there was again work being done to restore the main alter. At least this time we could see part of it. We also went next door to Kościół św. Barbary W Krakowie, a much smaller church, but one that was almost as nice, but without the crowd. All this travel made us weary and a bit hungry so we stopped for a rest to see if we could crowd source so lunch (just kidding).

More from the salt mine

As we walked deeper into the mine we got to see some spectaclar sights including the main cathedral. Water was a big deal in a salt mine and there were all sorts of things being done about it. Then just before the end of the tour a certain babo woke up and wanted to run around. She got her chance but not as much as after we surfaced and she found a fun shopping tolley at the shops.

Visiting the salt mine in Wieliczka

After wanting to go see the salt mine in Wieliczka for a number of years we finally made it. Babicka had been there when she was younger and told us how much it has changed. It is now a very polished tour with everything made easy. It was interesting to see how big it was and we saw less than 10% of it. We had lunch before we went down which was a good thing as there were so many stairs.

Arriving into Krakow

We had booked a lovely place so despite it taking a very long time to arrive into Krakow we were quickly refreshed. The girls enjoyed the large table and being able to go downstairs to play with the toys belonging to the house owners. The adults like the sauna and the quiet despite being right in the middle of the city.
