Exploring Salzburg

 We made our way into the historic part of Salzburg to take in some of the sights. It was a little bit late on a Sunday evening so there were very few tourists and almost none of the shops were open. We didn't mind though as it was a beautiful evening and we stopped in for a quick dinner before exploring. It was quite a pretty old town with lots of historic buildings including the big Dom zu Salzburg, and the castle perched a top it all. The girls found a geocache on the back of the church which was cleverly disguised. 

Sound of music house

 On the outskirts of Salzburg is the house from the movie Sound of Music where the family lived. It is actually a music school but is no less spectacular. We got to hear some lovely music coming from inside which was on point. The music school is accessed by a lovely tree lined lane and there is a little stream just a little way down the lane which the girls enjoyed looking at.

Riding the summer luge

 Not long before we reached Salzburg we stopped to ride a summer luge. It was still raining when we started but the sun came out and it ended up being quite a nice time. We were having really good fun but on the last run SV ended up bumping a slower cart in front of her and that scared her. The parent in the other cart got upset which made it even more scary for SV and she ended up being upset by it. It was too bad because it was an unfortunate end to a fun activity and it wasn't entirely her fault.

Leaving Innsbruck

 We got up in the morning and started to leave Innsbruck on our way to Salzburg. We picked up some breakfast at a bakery before we stopped at a really nice little park to eat. The girls got a little bit of running around in before we started our drive. It was nice and sunny while we ate but pretty soon the clouds rolled in and it ended up bucketing rain as we drove. We were happy to have a nice hearty lunch to warm up.
