We decided that we needed a little caffeine to give us a bit of energy as we were all a bit flat. Tea-rex came to our rescue and did so in pun filled style. It was a perfect way to get us going, particularly as we were heading to climb the Bruge tower. We made a few stops along the way to observe and appreciate.
We started the morning with a little bit of learning as we weren't in a terrible hurry to go into the rain. Once out it was fine but we soon got hungry and went in search of waffles. We then walked to the town hall and the adjacent church. The church had realy interesting architecure which used quite a lot of wood. It also had a relic of a vial of "Jesus' blood".
KT visited Bruge last summer and was really keen to show us the city with its many canals and quant cobblestoned streets. After checking in we went for an evening stroll around the city and a quick dinner. We only just managed to found a place to eat before they closed, it appeared that the city closes quite early in the low season. We didn't mind as it gave us a bit more time to explore and walk along the canals with hardly any tourists around.
All the walking around made us hungry so we found a nice restaurant to sit in and warm up. We had a nice window seat to watch people walking by and it was really enjoyable. Really improved everyone's mood so we could explore a bit more. EV found her store and was very excited about it as she was finally in an area where everyone knew her name.
We drove into a rainy Belgium and stopped in Antwerp to explore. The historic city centre is quite lovely and vibrant, even in the rain. There is so much street art and various sculptures throughout which make it a nice place to walk through. The historic buildings and interesting shops make you want to stay and continue exploring. The main square was also quite nice with an interesting and graphic fountain in the middle.
EV really liked the wolf suit onesie at Efteling so we got it for her because she looked adorable in it. Before we left our accommodation the girls got to pat the brand new kittens. They really enjoyed holding them very carefully. Of course it was very hard to say good bye to such little fluff balls.
After a great day we did a few more rides and the girls played a game of chance each. We decided to end the day by sailing along the lake watching the fish and birds swim along with us. The girls then floated off on the hot air balloon as a fitting end to our visit.
