Seeing Nagymama

When we got situated in our apartment Nagymama came and met us there. It was a little bit strange because we usually stay with her in Stara Tura. Now with a bigger family it was good to have the extra space though. SV was really glad to see Nagymama again, and MV felt very comfortable as well. They bonded rather quickly and started playing games. SV joined in too, and they all had fun.

Seeing Dedko Misko and Teta Andula

When we arrived in Stara Tura we went to see Dedko Misko and Teta Andula who graciously let us stay in her apartment. It was really great to see them again, and they had a special surprise for SV. A birthday cake with candles. She really enjoyed it but again needed a bit of help blowing the candles out. MV was immediately comfortable and enjoyed meeting her family. They in turn really enjoyed meeting MV and seeing SV again.

Transiting through FRA and VIE to Slovakia

We flew into Frankfurt after a pretty good flight during which we all got some sleep. When we got to Frankfurt we had just over three hours to wait for our flight to Vienna so we caught the train shuttle and went into the lounge to get some peace and quiet before the next flight. What a difference that was compared to the loud and bustling terminal (thanks again for the tip JN and AN).

The flight to Vienna was actually really good as both the girls slept while KT and TV rested. Once in Vienna we picked up our rental car for the next couple of weeks. It felt quite nice to be in the car and heading to Slovakia. We made really good time so on the way to Stara Tura we made a small detour to Beckov Castle so that SV could begin her castle tour. Despite the grumpy face she was quite excited and kept talking about it for the next hour.

Leaving SIN

Before we left Singapore we had to have at least one more good meal. MV managed to get a good nap in too, which would hopefully set us up well for our flight. We also said good bye to Auntie Leah who managed to get in a few more cuddles. At the airport we took advantage of our lounge access to have showers and change for the cooler climate we are about to experience in Europe.

SIN botanical gardens

Another Singapore first for us was a trip to the botanical gardens. As can be expected from a tropical climate there were heaps of beautiful flowers, but the orchids were simply amazing. We had a great walk around and when we got too hot we stopped so we could all have a drink. Afterwards we caught a taxi to an air conditioned shopping centre for lunch to cool off.

Morning portraits

The room we had in Leah's house gets really nice morning light and so we took some portraits of MV and SV there, much as we did with SV on previous visits. After getting ready we headed to the hawker centre for some breaky. Delicious and cheap, the breakfast in Singapore doesn't disappoint. Not even a 4 year old.

First day in SIN continued

After 5 visits to Singapore we made it a priority to see the Merlion, Singapore's national symbol. After a quite a bit of effort and sweat we managed to find the Merlion. It was pretty fun to see and we made sure to take a number of photographs in front of it and the Marina Bay Sands. After seeing the sights it was time to find a cool place to have lunch. An underground hawker centre seemed like a natural place to go.
