Looking for Jeanneke Pis

We caught up with Auntie Naomi again and went looking for Jeanneke Pis. We found some carved bears along the way, along with an aptly named shop. MV had fun pretending to ride a broom on the way and getting it quite filthy along the way. Eventually we found the statue of the little girl having a pis but SV was a bit scandalised by the spectacle. She felt like it was a bit rude to wee in public like that. All that walking made us hungry and we found some tasty chips to sack on.

Back to the Christmas markets

In the evening we went back to the markets yet again because the kids really wanted to ride the carousel once again. They were really good all day and so we decided to indulge them. SV had a great time riding the various animals, but MV was happy to just ride the unicorn. Eventually we managed to leave the carousel and see the big church. It was quite neat but not as ornate as some of the large cathedrals we have seen. After getting a snack we rode the ferris wheel to get a good view of the city. It was quite fun to see things from quite high up.

Exploring Brussels

We made it to see Mannekin Pis and of course got in a few photographs in front of the diminutive statue before we moved on. We stopped in at a restaurant which had free apples on the tables which proved to be quite a hit. It was a really relaxed atmosphere so we sat for quite some time and just chatted and watched the kids play with each other. Eventually we continued our walk and went through more of the xmas markets before finding an ice rink. We didn't skate this time as it was getting quite late.

Meeting up with Auntie Bambi

We headed out to catch up with Auntie Bambi, but on the way we stopped to take in the sights of Brussels. The first things saw was Zinneken Pis (peeing dog). The girls thought it was quite funny. We took in the Christmas decorations as well before we caught up with Auntie Bambi in the main square. It was really good to catch up with her again after several years. We walked past a very interesting toy store before heading over to see Manneken Pis.

Day 2 of Brussels

We woke up and got going at a reasonable time. TV took MV and SV out for a bit of a run around at the local park. They had a heap of fun running around and getting some of their silliness out. Afterwards we found a very good cafe which was really hipster. The girls got fantastic hot cholocates and KT got a very good coffee.

Christmas markets in Brussels

We really wanted to check out the Christmas markets in Brussels and luckily it was quite easy as it was about two blocks away. We found a really interesting merry go round which was very steam punk. Each animal was different and moved in different ways. The kids really enjoyed that and the projections on the church. We walked through the markets and got a few treats. We ended the night relatively early as we started getting a bit tired and ended up sleeping very well.
