Afternoon building

 On this particular afternoon EV and MV were hanging out in our bed watching a bit of tele before we went out to dinner. Meanwhile KT and SV worked on lego and chatted. 

Walk around the lake

 We went for what we thought was going to be a short walk around Wentworth Falls Lake, but it turned out to be a 4 kilometre walk. We actually didn't mind as luckily we packed some snacks and the walk was really pleasant. At the beginning EV wasn't having any of it and only wanted to go back in the car, but eventually she came around. There were ducks on the lake and the girls really wanted to pat them but the have been well trained by many other kids, consequently knowing how to stay just out of touching distance. MV and SV also really enjoyed climbing the tree and desperately wished it had been a warm day so they could use the swing to jump into the water.

Warm shower and a rest

 After a wet bushwalk the nicest thing is to have a warm shower and then get some rest. Since EV got a rest in the backpack she was a bit reluctant to have a nap again but eventually she gave in and slept for a little while. Everyone else took it easy as well and had a relaxing time.

Wet bushwalk

 It was forecast to be a damp day but we were still really keen for a walk. So we put on our wet gear and headed for a walk not too far from out house. It was great although better footwear would have made it better. We had to doge puddles but it was worth the lovely walk through the clouds. While we missed out on the views of the valley below, we got to marvel at all of the waterfalls and streams along the path. EV wasn't bothered by any of it as she snoozed in the backpack for some of it. She woke up just a few minutes before we reached the hut for lunch. After a great little meal we walked a little bit more knowing full well that once we got home a lovely hot shower awaited us all.

 

Relaxing activities

 EV had a nice nap and woke up refreshed. While she did that MV and SV played a game of chess, SV was teaching MV how to play in any case. Afterwards SV went to go read in her bed while the two younger ones played with lego. 

Opening a few more gifts

 We brought up a box of gifts to open while we were away and after relaxing a bit in the afternoon we opened up the box. The opening of gifts was undertaken with a mix of seriousness on this occasion. We all had a good time and it was very relaxed. We are very grateful for all of the pressies this year.

Wrapping up the walk

After a little break for a snack, we headed up and up again to climb out of the canyons back to the escarpment. Along the way we walked through a cave which seemed to have a couple of wild animals in it. Once we got to the top though EV was keen to get out and walk herself as she had another quick power nap in the backpack and felt energised. We made our way back to the lookout and a spot of lunch over which we discussed all of the various animals we saw including yabbies, lizards, all sorts of birds and a snake.
