Visiting the bird park

Aaron took us to the bird park where the birds were allowed to free range within the entire park. There were quite a few different types of birds that we got to see. The girls really liked the blue large pigeons with red eyes we found walking around. The birds were definitely used to people as they went about their business not fussed by the visitors gawking at them and taking photographs. MV found her kindred bird too, some sort of furrowed brow owl which looked just like her when she gets angry.

Taking the metro to the astronomy park

We took the metro to a park which had a number of exhibits dedicated to astronomy from across the world. The park is also home to an actual observatory with proper telescopes, but we didn't go inside to see it this time. We did pass another attraction along the way which had trains but we also didn't stop there. That one was actually quite popular. We did stop to look at the monkeys in the trees though.

Swim before the rain

In the afternoon we went for another swim before the rain which had threatened all day finally arrived. We didn't mind though as we went back upstairs to relax after what felt like a full day.

Hanging out with Uncle Liz and Auntie Aaron

Somehow a few years back MV called Auntie Liz uncle and the tag has stuck eversince. That meant that Aaron became Auntie and we all just went with it as a joke. Irrespective they were both very welcoming as they let us take over an entire floor of either apartment. They were really excited to have us and we were just as excited to be there visiting. We made sure to take advantage of their awesome pool and spa. After a hard morning of swimming we went to a local centre for a bit of a feed since our energy was so low. After eating everyone perked right up and we also went for an early afternoon beverage to celebrate the day.

Walking to the shops in KL

We decided to get up and go to the shops since we were up early and they were only a short distance away. Or so we thought. It turns out that KL is not a particularly walk friendly city and we ended up having to go quite a long way around to get to the shops because the pedestrian connection was simply removed. The detour ended up having us take a narrow and overgrown footpath which had massive holes in it. Luckily we made it safely albeit with complaints. Once there we saw some of the Deepavali decorations. The grocery store we ended up going to was quite upmarket and even had a room where fresh herbs and letucces were being grown. On the way back and after some breaky we stopped in at the playgrond of the apartment complex. It seems that SV is getting to be a little too big for some of these activities, a theme which becomes more evident throughout our trip.

Off to Kuala Lumpur

In the morning we went downstairs to get some drinks and then hoped on the metro to go catch our luxury coach to Kuala Lumpur. We stopped to get a bit of breakfast along the way and EV made a robot friend and wanted a picture with it. When we got on the bus it was very luxuries and we were all quite impressed. We did have to get off at the land border twice to clear immigration, but that was no sweat. We htne headed across to Malaysia towards KL. It was a nice trip despite it taking considerably longer than we expected. Luckily we were not really in a hurry and we got to see some great rain storms.

Eggcellent dinner

We went back out for dinner and we found a Japanese restautrant which focused on eggs. They even had some of the furniture shaped into egg related dishes. The food was quite good but EV was really tired after a big day and the long flight the day before. So TV took her home early and got her into bed.
