On the way to school

We are now getting into a bit of a rhythm when it comes to going to school and back. We have found a little secret fairy door in one of the trees in the park. We also have a few cat friends that we pat along the way now. The girls enjoy the bike rides and cat pats in the mornings.

Dinner with Aunties and Uncles

Before Auntie Gemma and Uncle Mat had to leave we manaed to catch up with Auntie Jeanna and Uncle Richie. It was a nice dinner of American style BBQ and a couple of beers. It was such fun to have everyone together and for Gemma and Jeanna to meet.

Puzzling with Auntie Gemma

The girls got to work on a puzzle with Auntie Gemma. They had a good time and managed to get the puzzle done before dinner time.

Finishing off in Old Sac

We got to go and sit in the cab of the massive 4294 locomotive which used to run up into the Sierra Nevada mountains. For a bit of contrast we then went to look at some of the miniature railway diaramas which were pretty good, although not in the same league as Miniature World. When we finished the girls found a place where they could pan for 'gold' before we walked along the river for a bit.

More from the Railway Museum

We continued loking through some of the carriages and various trains. It was quite fun with our friends to see some of the railroad related things like dining sets and various cabin classes across the eras. We had a bit of fun along the way of course.

Visiting Old Sac

We decided to take Auntie Gemma and Uncle Mat to Old Sac for a bit of a look around. We started by walking around a bit and seeing whether the Sacramento History Museum was open, spolier, it wasn't. We decided to go to the railroad museum instead because, well trains. First we had some ice cream and a hot dog too, which was open. Once inside we managed to learn about some of California's rail road history and the girls were excited to see the namesake of their school in a painting celebrating the completion of the trans continental railway.

Swimming with Auntie Gemma

We got to go to Grandma CeCe's pool for a swim with Auntie Gemma. It was really fun as she was happy to race and play and pretty much everything the girls wanted to do. Uncle Mat also came but hung out with Ron discussing all sorts of topics, until cake time of course. Very pleasant evening enjoying the tail end of summer.
