As the summer slowly draws to a close we are trying to make the most of the warm evenings. On this occasion we got some take away dinner and took our picnic blanket to a park overlooking the harbour. There were heaps of other people making the most of it which kept things interesting. We also saw fish hunting by churning up the water and jumping out. The girls made a rope out of the grass and played all sorts of games.
The Boomalli gallery was having a new exhibit as part of pride week and we got a chance to go see it. All five of us really enjoyed it and got to see some very interesting art. As it happened one of our favourite artists, Arone Meeks, had some of his bigger pieces on display including our favourite one with the vibrant red and blue elements. The girls also really liked his green piece with two characters who looked like they had tattoos or paintings of other characters on them. MV and SV spent a good ten minutes examining that one painting, it really was that engaging.
We had a chance to go back to the park that used to be close to our old house. It was a park SV used to go to all the time when she was little. The girls had a heap of fun and actually quite enjoyed playing there. In fact we came back the following day as well.
After a few months we finally managed to bury Blue Star. She was a beta fish who was liked by the girls. We really had a hard time finding time which could be solemn enough to say good bye appropriately. We all said a few words before laying her to rest.
The performances started with a single show by MV who did some singing and dancing. She was also the MC who kept the crowd going and kept them involved. Next, three ladies came up to do a bit of an acrobatic performance. Finally the show wrapped up with a dramatic performance by MV and SV.
The girls were drinking smoothies and discussing which of the dress up clothes they would use for their story. They came up with a plan before they finished their smoothies which allowed them to get straight into the story. The story kept evolving along the way and there were a number of costume changes occurring throughout.
The help support and donate to the red cross flood relief the girls got dressed all in red. The girls were excited to be supporting a good cause and also to be wearing something other than their uniform.
