Good bye Hong Kong

After a action packed holiday there was only one thing left to do. Catch our flight home of course. Hong Kong airport is fantastic though, so we spent a bit of time there sampling the hospitality and food one more time.

A bit of shopping

After a not so typical Hong Kong day we decided to do a bit of shopping and eating. A more traditional thing to do there, particularly in Kowloon. After picking out a souvenir each we headed back on the metro and back to the apartment for the last time.

Hong Kong beach club

Food always tastes better outside, especially at the beach. Even tasty food couldn't keep the kids out of the water for long though. They had heaps of fun playing in the calm, warm water. They painted each other with black sand as a spa treatment before running and jumping through the waves. Eventually they came out clean again.

Going to the beach in HK

That's right, you read it correctly, and there was hardly anyone there despite the warm weather. On the other side of the road there was also a field of cattle grazing in front of a very pristine looking mountain. Pretty special place that Uncle Gareth took us to see. It was quite relaxing to just sit back and chat over a few beverages and snacks.

High-rise park living

This time we tried a different park, still surrounded by high-rise apartments, but at least there was something other than concrete. The girls had fun and worked together to get across some of the obstacles. It started to get quite hot and humid, so we took a break and headed off to lunch. Naturally we had dumplings, but of a different sort.

Afternoon relax and play

While MV had a nap the rest of us relaxed in the apartment. When she woke up, we headed to a local park to see what the kids in Hong Kong were up to. It was a funny experience as the park was fully paved with a couple of trees, but then completely encircled by massively high buildings. Also it was a bit unusual to be at the park without a nanny. Pretty much every other kid had a nanny and perhaps a parent with them. The girls had fun and didn't seem to mind. After the park we had a babysitter named Candy come and watch the kids while we went out with Uncle Gareth for a night out in Hong Kong. Candy ended up being quite a hit as both MV and SV kept asking about her and whether she was going to babysit them again.
