Snorkelling at Gordon's Bay

SV and TV went to the beach, specifically Gordon's Bay. We had our snorkelling gear and got to swim around quite a bit before SV got cold. We saw a number of fish, a ray and a Port Jackson Shark too. Afterwards we walked along the cliff tops to take in the view on the spectacular day before having a lovely lunch.

Sleeping in her big bed

EV has transitioned to sleeping in a big bed now. She has done really well so far and is proud as punch when it's mentioned. In fact the bottom photograph is the only time she actually wasn't in her bed. We suspect that she actually fell asleep on the floor rather then fall out of it. She is also enjoying her Xmas jammies which are a major hit at the moment.

Driving in the backyard

After school EV and MV were outside driving around in the backyard. Even though the car is only designed for one, they made due and managed to fit both of them in there. They had a good time, although EV was pretty keen to drive.

Setting out their cards

MV and SV set out, categorised, and organised their animal cards. These are the cards that they got from all sorts of promotions and as part of different toys. They really had an interesting system which they understood but didn't write down. We now can't remember exactly what that system was unfortunately. They worked hard on it and at the end they were rightfully proud of their accomplishment. They then packed it all away without argument.

Swim and Thai

We went down to the beach with what seemed all of Sydney on this hot day. The girls loved playing in the tide pools and seeing the little animals within them. TV also took the older two for a swim in the ocean where they did a bit of snorkeling which they really enjoyed. After the beach we were hungry and went to one of our favourite Thai restaurants. It was a great lunch with easy conversation throughout and tasty lunch for all of us.

More from Lane Cove

After our break we continued walking along the river and through more mangroves. A section of the trail even had some lovely cool ferns and blackberries too. The blackberries proved to be tasty and popular with our group. Once we hit a sports field we decided to have another snack break and a play on the equipment before heading back.

Lane Cove National Park first visit

We have been wanting to go see this particular national park as it is literally a 10 minutes drive from our house, but for some reason we just never quite managed it until now. We were well impressed and glad that we finally made it. It was quite a pleasant walk through varied terrain. We first went along a grassy path before venturing down along a boardwalk amongst the mangroves. We climbed back up through some typical gumtree bushland before coming back down to the river for a bit of a snack.
