Gold Coast: Day 6

The last day of our trip was bitter sweet as we were not quite ready to go back home. SV refused to acknowledge the fact as she sat on the couch transfixed.
Once at the airport we all had different coping mechanisms with dealing with the end of the trip. TV wrote a post for this very blog. While SV went through his wallet and balanced coins on the table. And KT just tried to avoid making eye contact with strangers.

Gold Coast: Day 5

This was our last full day of our holiday and so we did a bit of last minute shopping where KT found her store. SV and TV wore their Cambodian TinTin shirts to mark the occasion before heading for a dip in the pool. The Cambodian theme continued in the evening when SV wore her Cambodian dress out to dinner, looking very classy along with her mum. Although perhaps not quote as classy as her leopard print pyjamas.

Gold Coast: Day 4

We got out of the hotel early and went to the big shopping centre in Broadbeach, Pacific Fair, where we got breaky and did a bit of souvenir shopping. We also got a few things we needed. In the afternoon the real fun started for SV. It was a chance for her to return to the beach and sea. We all had a great time watching her play in the waves and sand. She was shivering and her lips were blue but she did not want to get out of the water. She kept trying to flop into the water and swim, clearly she is ready for some proper swim lessons.

Gold Coast: Day 3 New Year Day

Day 3 along with the new year had two starts.  In the morning TV and SV played with finger puppets before breakfast. SV started the new year off by going to the beach for the first time when she could walk and actually play in the sand and waves. At first she was quite nervous and wary, but pretty soon she started enjoying herself. She got a bit wet playing in the waves, so we took her up to the beach to dry off. KT then gave her a mandarin from the comfort of our little beach tent which provided some necessary shade from the strong Australian sun. After the beach we had a nice dinner at a German restaurant run by a Czech man where SV had a go at being a beer wench.

Gold Coast: New Year's

After waking SV from her nap we drove to Tweed Heads for the first of our New Year's celebrations. While there we took a photograph at the border of the two states (New South Wales and Queensland) before the fireworks began. After the first celebration we drove back to our hotel to watch the second celebration from the comfort of our hotel.

Gold Coast: Day 2

Our second day, although only our first full day, was heaps busy. We explored our resort's swimming pools and hot tub. SV also took advantage of the great playground at the hotel, which had a heap of new apparatuses for her to explore. We had a relaxing lunch in the hotel to set ourselves up for our double New Year's celebration. We did manage to go visit Surfers Paradise and grab dinner though before SV had a pre-New Year nap.

Gold Coast: Day 1

We arrived in the middle of the afternoon and drove our hire car straight to our hotel, which ended up being a great family resort. Our room was really nice, with a couple of steps which SV decidedly took advantage of. After getting our bearings and a snack we went to get some supplies for our stay which a certain kid got right into. It was an early night, but we certainly enjoyed the view of the coast.
