After we had a little snack we continued exploring the museum for a while longer. We couldn't pass up going to see the dinosaurs, including EV's favourite T-rex autopsy exhibit. She really likes that one and always asks heaps of questions and spends quite a long time examining it. All that curiosity made us hungry though and we had lunch before walking through the city which was decorated for Chinese New Year making it quite festive.
We went down to the Australian Museum to get out of the heat and to have a bit of a wander. It was great because the museum keeps getting updated with not only the exhibits but also the building itself. The new kids area is fantastic as it mixes natural history with Aboriginal history in compelling kid friendly exhibits.
We went into the city for the day and stopped in to see the newly refurbished Anzac Memorial. It was quite nicely done. The girls were well behaved and interested, staying silent throughout to respect the place. On the way out thought the security guard said good bye to us at full volume, so much for being solemn, ha ha.
The girls had a first proper play date with their friends at the house. They each had a friend and had fun playing different games together.
KT and TV got to go and see Amadeus at the Opera House. It was such a great play with Michael Sheen was excellent as Salieri. We had such a nice evening out having an early dinner and then enjoying a walk in the evening after the performance.
Babicka and Brad came back from a great trip to Bali for a few days before they had to head home. It was really nice to hear about their adventures over some board games. MV especially enjoyed playing Monopoly with them and it was a fitting way to say good bye. As usual the time passed far too quickly, but it was fun.
EV has now started building Legos in earnest. She and MV worked on this crane for an hour or so and only required help tying a knot in the string. They did a great job only making one small mistake. They still play with it even as a built model.
