We stopped at Mono Lake to have a bit of a look around at the famous mounds in the lake. We had a nice little walk and found these interesting flies along the water's edge. For once they didn't bother us but they certainly made an interesting sound when a bunch of them were disturbed. SV got a slingshot as a souvenir and everyone had a bit of a go with it. Turned out to be a fun little distraction along the walk.
We were all very hungry as we stopped for lunch and subsequent soft serve treat. We had lunch at a typical dinner with pretty good food. The kids worked on some colouring and puzzles with the help of some of the adults. Kept everyone entertained until the food came and was fun.
As we were leaving we stopped in to see the hot springs near Convict Lake. They were small and really hot, so we were only allowed to look but not touch. Luckily it wasquite pretty to look at and a nice little stop along the way.
We got up in the morning and played a few games after breakfast. We then had to pack up the rest of our stuff and hit the road. Before doing so we went back down to the lake to take one last look and take some photographs all together.
We continued walking around Convict Lake until we got to another small snow field. Most of us turned around and headed back to the start, but KT and MV continued all the way around the rest of the lake. The rest of us went back and ordered dinner before TV went back and picked up the bushwalkers.
We went for a walk around Convict Lake to go see the two snow fields at the lake level. Once we got to the snow fields we couldn't help but climb all over the snow. MV tried to go to the top but eventually we asked her to turn around and come back down. So her and TV slid back down using their feet as skis. It was quite fun actually. We decided to keep going though.
We got to hire a boat on Convict Lake and putter around the lake. It was fun to spend a bit of time with the newly weds and to slowy make our way around the lake. The girls all enjoyed having a go at driving the boat, especially MV. She has really taken a liking to driving pretty much anything.
