We stopped in Dylan on the way back to Denver to fly out. Dylan is well located on the shore o a lake and very close to several good ski resorts, so a good place to have a rental property. We stopped to check on it with Uncle Jay to see what sort of work it required. After saying good bye to Uncle Jay we headed to the airport so we could fly to Texas.
We made our way back to a gondola and headed back down the mountain to the Vail village. We stopped to play at a playground and then to have some dinner. The kids played corn bag in a hole game while we waited for the food. We weren't quite ready to say good bye so we went and played at one more playground which had a great pirate ship. Alas it was time to say good bye and head home after an eventful day.
We found a place where weddings were sometimes held because the view across the Rockies was fantastic there. We had a little rest and refuelled while taking a break. It was very relaxing and we had the whole place to ourselves. The kids ran around and talked amongst themselves while we enjoyed ourselves.
At the top of one of the gondolas there is a short informative walk where people can learn and experience the abilities local animals. For example we could compare our jumping to that of a mountain lion. It was a fun walk and we all enjoyed it.
We finally managed to get to Vail to walk through the city and then do a bit of a bushwalk at the top of the gondola. The city is very quaint and tries to mimic an Alp village. It was good to see it again but we really enjoyed the ride to the top of the mountain and doing our walk up there. The views were wonderful and there is just something about being in a pine forest which is wonderful.
TV took EV to get her hair cut as it was getting a little bit shaggy. They had fun and met up with everyone for a little walk along the Eagle River which ran right by our house. We then went into the shopping area for a little bit of lunch before we went to Vail in the afternoon.
Uncle Jay took us to his brand new commercial kitchen he was setting up for his catering business. It was really impressive and very well appointed despite not quite being finished. Afterwards we went to Beaver Creek for a sunset picnic. It was really nice to chat and have the kids play on the grass and playground. TV and Uncle Jay joined in on the soccer a bit as well to mix things up a little bit. It was such a nice evening and so great to see the kids play together like that.
