Arriving into Ballina

A stop in Tenterfield saw us get some rest before heading to Ballina to stay put for a little while. SV took advantage and opened the last of her advent calendar doors for xmas. Pulling into Ballina meant going and taking a photograph at the Big Prawn before setting up camp. SV was really excited to put up her tepee which she was quite reluctant to leave for a long while.

Park camping

From Tamworth we headed north towards Armidale but we stopped over at the Dangars Falls picnic area in the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. This was a lovely spot with lots of kangaroos jumping and eating around us. In the morning we went for a short walk to take in the view of the gorge and river.

First day of 2015

SV and TV got up early for the first day of the year. They had some bonding time while the rest of the household slept in. Taking advantage of the lovely weather they had a picnic breakfast. It was a great start to the day.

Welcome to 2015!

We have now made the jump into 2015. Won't you join us soon?! Best wishes to everyone and hopefully this is a prosperous and good year for everyone!

Tamworth: Home of Australian Country Music

Tamworth is home to the biggest country music festival and the Big Golden Guitar. What better place to take a couple of Texans? We had fun at the big guitar and adjoining souvenir shop which was full country music stuff. SV had lots of fun there, but was a little bit concerned about one of the really spiky trees we encountered. After a big lunch (hamburger of course) she got really tired and eventually fell asleep as we headed out of town.

Camping in Scone

SV enjoys setting up camp because it gives her a chance to 'help'. This time she got to try out a hammock again. We had a lovely dinner before SV got ready for her shower. She did all sorts of things so she could delay going to bed. In the morning she was quite happy to get up and at it. Maybe the cherries or the show were a motivation to get going again.

Wine tasting

The Mudgee area is known for it's wine, and so we decided to try some of the wineries. We found them to be very nice, but the wines were a bit immature, although we only visited three places. We all had a lot of fun though because it was a low pressure and the places were all family friendly. SV even made friends with the kids of one of the owners.
