Market snack and play

We continued walking around with our friends before sitting down to langos and sausages. Delicious! Then we found an area that had some games of various kinds to play. We all tried out at least one game which was quite fun. We walked our friends to the metro through Hősök tere (Heroe's Square) and by the giant ice rink.

Sydney friends in Budapest

After getting settled in our apartment we headed back out to see the city. The first natural stop was parliament and the river where we took some nice photographs. Afterwards we headed to the markets where we caught up with our Aussie friends. The kids were very excited to see each other and had a blast for the most part while the adults stayed warm with a bit of warm wine.

Arriving in Hungary

We had a relaxed start to the day with all three little ones rested in their bed. After breakfast it was time to head out to Budapest. We were all excited to be on the road to a new place (for the kids anyway). On the drive there we stopped on the highway rest stop for lunch. It was amazing because we had a fully cooked meal with soup, main, dessert and drink for $4 each. The food was good except the soup was quite salty. Once in Budapest we found our apartment quite easily and once in made ourselves at home. The kids really enjoyed the space and having Nagymama there with them. The view was also quite good plus the proximity to parliament and the river was hard to beat.

More time with the Drobnis

For lunch we went back to see the Drobnis. This time Auntie Ivica and her family had a chance to meet up as well. We haven't seen her for over 25 years, so it was really good to catch up again. EV got loads of attention and by the time we got home she was exhausted.

Breaky and cemetery

We had a great breaky at our hotel which was very centrally located. We'd had the breaky there before and knew it was going to be good. EV got to try out a high chair which actually ended up working out great. After breaky we headed to the cemetery to visit Nagymama's husband and his parents. It was a bit foggy which added a great mood to the visit.

Arriving in Rimavska Sobota

We got to Rimavska Sobota around lunch time, so we stopped in for a snack at one of our favourite rest stops. They have great food and a good outdoor play area for the kids. After lunch we went and saw the Drobnis to hang out for the afternoon. The girls got to play with Misko again and EV got to meet everyone for the first time. She of course was a hit as she starred deeply into people's eyes. It was a fun afternoon spent talking and catching up.
