We went to see Teta Andula for dinner. She was of course prepared for us and had several activities for the girls to do. They worked on art and a puzzle. Then they came up with a game of finding people in the newspaper and augmenting them. TV tried to fix her record player although he was not successful this time, while KT took it easy and chatted as she worked on the puzzle with MV.
We took Nagymama to Nove Mesto to take care of some of her business. The girls got to run around the namestie, main square, while we did what we needed to. Once all of our business was complete we treated ourselves to a sushi lunch. We completely overwhelmed the restaurant with our order, so much so that the owner came out and took a photograph of the platter and us eating it. It was good and fun to eat, we left satisfied for sure. When we got back the adults had a rest but the girls went and played to burn off the lunch.
The girls went out into the garden and enjoyed picking fruits including strawberries and gooseberries. They also played with the three new cats which Uncle Mirko adopted. MV's friend Patka also came and visited so the two of them worked on some drawings together.
After a long time on the road we got back to Stara Tura to see family again. It was really nice to be back and the weather was perfect for an ice cream. We caught up with Teta Andula for a frozen treat and a beverage. The cafe had some games to play which the kids enjoyed. Afterwards they got to run around a playground that they had never visited which was good fun after being in the car all morning.
The Klementinum was founded by Jesuit monks in 1556 and became one of the early centres of education and culture in Europe. It has a long and interesting history and has seen many renowned scholars walk through its halls. It is home to the National Library with its main room being the famous Baroque hall which contains many rare and value works dating back to the first century. We were all quite impressed by the library and really wished that we could walkthrough it to take in all of those amazing works. Alas we could only just wander past the door to take a look and a photograph or two. Luckily we got to go up the very steep stairs to the (almost) top of the astronomical tower. We had more fantastic views from the tower and we got to see some of the astronomical instruments that have been used to measure time among other things.
Since we couldn't got to the Klementinum the day before we got tickets for the morning and had an excursion before we headed out of Praha. We stopped and got some rozoks for breakfast and enjoyed the relative quiet in the touristy parts of Praha. It was also such a lovely day that it was pleasant just to be outside.
The girls took KT up the tower because they had been there last year but KT had never been there. They got to play tour guides which was exciting, plus the view from up there was amazing. TV managed to get some photographs of them from below too. It was a good way to see Praha below and all around while SV got her portrait finished. Afterwards we all met up again and found a nice little restaurant in a side alley which served great food and good drinks. Great way to finish up the day and go back home.
