MV also had a go at roller blading. The skates are adjustable so both girls can wear them and they fit. MV also did great skating, although she was a little more hesitant. We guess all those extra times SV went ice skating gave her a good balance from which to start learning.
A friend of ours gave us some second hand roller blades and they just fit SV. She took them for a spin and did quite well. It was similar to the ice skating she has done and roller skating as well. She said she prefers roller skates though, so we'll see.
Since we can't go on an actual bushwalk we decided to do an urban bushwalk through our suburbs. Mind you, we are lucky as we actually have some lovely areas to explore so it was quite a nice walk. The one advantage of an urban bushwalk was that there were toilets readily available as well as a place to get lunch. We took advantage of both. We had a small non-picnic lunch under the wonderful fig trees in the park before going home to finish our 8km walk.
The girls acted like it was the middle of winter without heating at home school. Despite the beautiful warm day they actually weren't wrong, it is winter and we didn't heat the school. Budget cuts as it were. Wearing jackets and beanies may have been a bit of a statement they were trying to send to management though. Unfortunately for them, management paid little attention, but luckily the weather warmed up and they survived in tact.
Surprisingly we found another new park in our neighbourhood. The best part was that there was no one else there so we were very Covid safe. It was quite nice as we had a short bike ride to the park and a small snack once we got there. The girls then got to run around and even ride their bikes behind the bushes and along the path. When we got home we had tacos which was like the cherry on top of a great excursion.
EV was acting as chalkzilla. Stomping around on the chalk and then laying down amongst it. She then actually drew with it as well.
The girls like to try out different equipment to get a bit of practice on everything. This time around they got their skates on. They are getting better at riding, but still need some more practice as some of the bums were still a bit sore.
