Piešťany day trip

Piešťany is a town famous for their therapeutic thermal pools. We went there to visit again and have a bit of a swim. It was a lot of fun going to the kids pool and the big thermal pool Eva. Afterwards we went for a walk around the town and found a flock of swans and ducks. We took photographs in front of the famous statue before going and trying the water. It was decidedly sulphury in flavour and about 60C in temperature. We had to wait for it to cool to drink it. Piešťany is a beautiful town and we were glad to have a chance to visit and relax for a day.

Branč Castle

This time we went to a castle called Branč which is also quite close to Stara Tura. As with most castles it is found at the top of a hill. It is also being reconstructed, thank you EU. Branč is also the home to heaps of sparrows who were all flying around catching bugs before sunset. It was fun to explore the castle with no one around. SV was really keen to see everything while MV wanted to climb on all of the walls.

Walking through the meadows and...

Since it was a nice day we went for a walk through the forest and a meadow that TV used to go to when he was small. It has changed quite a bit, getting quite overgrown. Some people still came there though as evidenced by the camp fires. On the way back we drove through a big field and SV got her first chance to drive the car. She really had a lot of fun driving all around the field.

Living Slovak

We had a few days of really embracing Slovak life. Doing things like digging up potatoes. Climbing and sliding down hay stacks. It was a lot of fun and good exercise as well. MV had fun as well, but then she also napped quite well.

Happy Halloween 2016

We had a pair of kitties this Halloween and they both enjoyed trick-or-treating. They had a couple of friends come over to help them out as well. After all of the walking around the cats sat out front patiently giving away the lollies. We pretty much ran out and had to go through the cupboards looking for more. We had over a 100 kids, possibly even 150 come by. Of course at the end of any good Halloween the treats must be sampled. We had that covered quite well.

Saying good bye to Jeanna and Rich

After several weeks of travelling in Europe together and seeing quite a few people it was time to say good bye to Uncle Richie and Auntie Jeanna for a little bit. In typical Slovak manner we had a toast and food and lots of loud conversation.
