Visiting Kuhsee

Auntie Leah took us through the neighbourhood of Spickel to a large forested park to the south of Augsburg. We had a look at the damn which controlled the flow of the river through the city. We also spent some time at Kuhsee, which is a lovely swimming lake and home to swans and ducks. We really enjoyed walking through the park with all of the wonderful open space until we met the grump on the stump that is. It was fine as the grump let us enjoy some peace in the shade in the end.

Bit of shopping in Augsburg

We got a fashionably early start to the day and we went for a little bit of shopping before we caught up with Auntie Leah. Our apartment was really well located as so many fun shops were right outside our door. The fresh fruit market was notable for how good the fruit was and some of it was quite unusual for us. EV was quite exited about all of the Germany merch because she wanted to send something to her mate Vinnie.

Walking through a park in Augsburg

We walked along the stream until we got to a lovely park which had a community garden and a playground. It was very nice to sit and chat while the girls played and got some energy out. Afterwards we made our way back to the accommodation before heading out to dinner.

Walking through Augsburg

We enjoyed walking through Augsburg with Auntie Leah who was a good tour guide. We really enjoyed walking along one of the many streams through town, which was incorporated into the city very nicely. Due to all of the rain the stream was moving along very nicely. Being in Germany we of course stopped in for a pastry and a drink before we continued, and neither disappointed.

Visiting Augsburger Dom

We visited the Catholic cathedral and got to explore quite a bit of it. It is a well preserved church with wonderful stain glassed windows. We really enjoyed walking through it and seeing how impressive it is.

Auntie Leah in the park

We have a bit of a habit of meeting Auntie Leah in parks around Europe. This time it was quite convenient to see her at a nearby one as she didn't live too far. It was great to see her and catch up about the new school she was teaching at amongst other things. The kids really enjoyed the cooler weather and being able to run on grass again. A definite change from the arid nature of Cyprus. It rained a little bit but we didn't really mind as we still managed to do a geocache which EV proudly found.

Augsburg morning

We were excited to be in Germany again, particularly for all the wonderful baked goods. After a good breaky we left our hotel which was on a pedestrian street and headed around the corner to the main town square. We walked around the pedestrian area looking at some of the historic buildings before heading off to meet up with out friend Auntie Leah.
