Giant sports shop

We went and visited a new sports shop that opened up. We wanted some backpacks for the girls which were quite cheap. We ended up spending quite a bit of time as the shop was really big and full of things to try out. The girls certainly were not shy. For some reason SV got the idea to practice kung fu on the surfboard and MV thought she should have a snorkel and mask on a kayak.

Aquarium revisisted

We went to the aquarium as one of SV's beloved fishes died, RIP Orangey. The girls were excited as the layout has changed a bit and because they got to pick out some new fish. We were glad to see that despite the changes Bruce, Babicka's friend, was still there and with a better view even. The girls had a hard time picking out a fish but finally settled on Christina the lady fighting fish and several neon tetras. The tank is now certainly active.

Swim and picnic

We took advantage of the summer weather with their warm evenings to go to the pool for a swim and a picnic. SV is now swimming really well and is very comfortable in the water, just needs to work on her stroke and stamina. MV is also getting comfortable in the water and with water wings she is very happy to get in the water for by herself. It was tough to get the girls out of the pool for the picnic, but eventually they did get tired and hungry. Swimming certainly works up an appetite. It was also a really nice way to finish off a day. The girls subsequently had no problem going to sleep.

SV starts year 1

Today was the start of Year 1 for SV. She was a nervous about it, but as soon as she stepped out the door she started seeing her school chums and got excited. Her first couple of days are actually with her kindy teacher and classmates. As the week progresses she will transition into her year 1 class, including her new school mates.

Who needs fun teeth

Clearly SV does. She has lost both of her front teeth now and is looking for suitably fun replacements. On the other hand MV is enjoying a good dance with watermelon.

Park play

We had a walk up to the park for the girls to play a bit before lunch. They had a good time despite the heat, although there was an argument over the scooter.

Pie face game

Family game night is always a great time. Especially when there is whipped cream involved and lots of kids. Some people were luckier at this game than others. You be the judge.
