After getting dressed up the girls headed out to see the deer again. They first surveyed the landscape from the balcony before going down to meet the locals. Some of the deer were quite impressed with the kimonos, but there was one who didn't much care, she was tired.
The girls were excited to dress up again in kimonos. This time MV also found one she liked and dressed up. They all enjoyed the process of getting ready together and really getting their hair done too. They were ready to see the deer in style. In Nara there were not many people who dressed up so they really stood out in a nice way.
The deer are very used to people, especially those that feed them their deer waffers. We try not to do that because they get quite aggressive in getting the waffers so we feed them flowers and leaves. MV made a good friend using cherry blossoms, something that EV and SV did as well. The deer are so tame that you can casually just walk by and give them a pat. Sometimes they aren't interested at all and just lay about.
We arrived in Nara to visit the deer again after we saw them last time we were in Japan. This time the deer were looking a bit scraggly as they were begining their spring molt. We were really excited to see the deer as soon as we left the train station, but most excited was EV who had never seen deer so up close. She made several friends who were all interested in a little snack.
We went and had a look at the gardens around Yasaka Shrine and took some more photographs. It was nice to see some of the animals within the gardens. The gardens were manicured nicely to make them a very peaceful place to walk. Afterwards the girls got carmel apples as a snack to chew on before we had to go return the kimonos and hop back on to the train to Osaka. It was a pleasant afternoon in Kyoto.
We continued walking through the various areas of Yasaka Shrine and enjoying the beautiful buildings. The shrine has some really nice spaces which were perfect for getting wonderful photographs of the girls.
