Walking to Harrods

We walked through Kensington to the high street where Harrods is located. It really felt like London as KT and TV remembered it from 2005. Inside Harrods had changed quite a bit though with a bunch of small sections rather than the big open spaces we remembered. The food hall was still excellent and we made sure to partake in samples and of course bought some treats for ourselves. We walked through the toy section but it was a bit weird with little rooms that had low ceilings. The kids enjoyed it and it is certainly an icon of London.

More Natural History Museum

We continued onwards to look at the various taxidermied animals including the massive blue whale. We then made our way to the top of the main entrance hall to see it from above. It was really quite nice to see it from that perspective. We also went and had a look at the cafeteria where two dinos were conversing about lunch. We of course wrapped things up in the gift shop but managed to only get presents for other kids this time.

Going to the Natural History Museum

Our first museum visit was to the Natural History Museum which has such a beautiful main building. On the way there we stopped for a quick lunch and a bubble tea. We really enjoye looking at the detail of the main building and the first skeletal exhibits. We then moved on to the dinosaur exhibit but it was quite busy and noisy. People were shoving to get through it as well which made it less than ideal, and we could hardly stop to read any of the signs.

Leaving Hampstead Heath

We eventually started making our way from Hampstead Heath, but one more adventure awaited the girls. They found a forest path along a stream which the adults didn't take. The girls really enjoyed the independence even though the trails were destined to meet up again. After we were reunited we found a horsey log which they took turns riding. They also stopped in at a playground where they made a friend, actually two, al little girl about EV's age and her mum. It was really cool to watch them do it too. We then had a quick dinner before heading back to the tube and our apartment. Such a lovely Sunday.

More from Hampstead Heath

We continued climbing the trees and the sun came out from behind the clouds to warm things up a touch. Made for a very pleasant time in nature. The girls loved climbing and running through the open spaces which they missed a bit on the earlier parts of this trip. Just being able to be free and unrestrained.

Hampstead Heath

It was such a pleasure to visit Hampstead Heath despite the rain. The girls loved exploring all of the various paths through the trees and it was so nice just to see all of that greenery. We got to see the ponds which are segregated for the ladies and gentlemen for their swimming needs. At the moment it was far too cold and a bit drizzly to go swimming. Instead we continue walking around and found some trees to climb.
