Saying good bye to Melbourne

Despite it being a short trip, we managed to do quite a bit, without feeling like we over did it. One of the reasons we didn't over do it was because our hotel suite was just so nice. We took a family photograph, although SV was a bit reluctant lest we hurry her out the door. She really didn't want to leave, and frankly neither did we.

On the way to the taxi she cheered up though because it meant she would get to go on the aeroplane. She got to pull and ride her trunki as well as play with her new toys. On the flight before she had dinner she even got to use her new headphones to watch a show. A great trip and with a very relaxed flight home (number 47 for SV for those of you keeping track).

Melbourne Museum Part 2

We spent most of the last day at the Melbourne Museum and so we got to do quite a bit there. SV really enjoyed the animal and dinosaur exhibits which are both very well presented. She also very much liked the kid friendly exhibits where she got to crawl and explore. There were also plenty of activities for her to do including puzzles which she is now quite good at completing.

Melbourne Museum Part 1

Every time we go to Melbourne we end up going to the Melbourne Museum, even when it's bucketing rain. It's a fantastic museum because it has a lot of different types of exhibits which appeal to almost everyone. The exhibits are also very well thought out and educational. SV really enjoyed making her way through them. She had a lot of fun in the human perception and human body exhibits.

National Gallery of Victoria continued

After we finally got past the foyer we looked at some of the kids exhibits where SV got to do a number of activities. Eventually we went to see some of the masterpieces and other art as well. We even became part of the art as we took a photograph in front of an ornate mirror.

National Gallery of Victoria

The first museum we went to was the National Gallery of Victoria. The weather was a bit ordinary so a museum was a great place to escape the wind and rain. SV was hooked right off the bat with a great fountain and water wall. The first exhibit we saw in the foyer was a life scale golden carousel with swings. She was very excited to get on it, but soon realised that it only went one speed which was rather slow. She kept asking to go faster, but it even at slow speed we all had fun.

Trolley ride in Melbourne

Melbourne has heritage trams that run for free for tourists. SV was quite interested so we took her for a ride. After getting back to our hotel SV had a good nap before waking up and requesting a massage. We then took advantage of the huge Greek population to have a nice Greek dinner with a great open window overlooking the activity on the street.
