Museu de História Natural e da Ciência da Universidade do Porto

 We went to the natural history museum which seemed to be underoing a bit of a renovation and consequently had only two exhibits open, one about the early chemistry work done at the university and how it was taught, and the other on various minerals and gems. We didn't spend too much time there and consequently headed back early. We stopped by Parish Church of São Pedro de Miragaia which we dubbed the church of Jesus of the luscious locks. On the way there though we saw news reporters doing a live broadcast of some sort of happening which included police and other people. Not sure what happened but we didn't stick around too long, we had more cats to pat.

 We went to burn off some of the lunch with SV and KT going off to find a geocache. The rest of us played at the playground at this lovely park near the university. It was quite a nice day and it was perfect for strollng and sitting in the park. 

Best veggie soup ever

 We ended up going to a cafe which had quite possibly the best veggie soup ever. EV ate two bowls of it plus a few other things. We all really enjoyed the food and consequently were in a much better mood. We walked towards the university and were going to go into a famous bookshop but the queue and price of tickets was too much.

Heading out in Porto again

 We went out to walk through Porto proper and see what we could find. We had a few destinations we wanted to visit in cluding one of the pretiest McDonald's in the world. We walked up a really nice pedestrian street where we ended up getting a few things. The girls were a bit angsty, particularly EV so we soon headed off to lunch.

Evening stroll through Porto

 We had a really nice stroll along the river first on the Gaia side and then crossing the river to the Porto side. It was really nice to be walking in the evening and watch the sunset and sky turn that wonderful blue colour. We all felt energised despite waking around all day.

Ferreira tasting room

 The best part of any factory tour is the tasting of the products. This of course was no different, having learned so much about the processes we got quite thirsty so the three types of port we tasted were very refreshing. The girls got fresh squeezed orange which they enjoyed just as much. We had a fun convrsation about all sorts of stuff as we relaxed.

Ferreira warehouse tour

 We took a tour of the warehouses of one of the biggest Port producer houses in Porto, Ferreira. It was quite interesting to learn about some of the history of the brand and also about the production of port. Even the girls were interested in the tour, in parts anyway. It was well worth doing even if just to understand the scale of production and the various types of port.
