Visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace

 After a bit of a walk we popped into a cafe to get a warm up with a drink. After we had alittle something and felt warm we headed over to Gyeongbokgung Palace. It's one of the royal palaces and has been destroyed several times. It was pretty fun to see people dressed up in period costumes as they wandered through the halls and courtyards. The girls enjoyed some of the many flowers as TV took some photographs of them. It was a nice thing to do but unfortunately we all started feeling hungry and so had to go find some food. Just as well because it was starting to rain.

Seoul stream in the city

 One of the first things we went to see in the city was this stream nestled amidst the high rise buildings. We aren't quite sure whether this is the stream which was covered by a highway and then the highway was torn down to make room for a park based around the newly uncovered stream. In any case it was a really nice, peaceful space amongst the hubbub of the city. The girls enjoyed walking along and seeing all the various features. 

On our way to Seoul

 The next morning we woke up and headed back to the airport to take the express train to the centre of Seoul. We ended up having some doughnuts at the airport before boarding the train. We met a friendly robot who helped point us in the right direction. The train was really nice, smooth and comfotable. We saw so many cherry blossoms along the way that we did not really want to seek out others in the city.

Off to Korea

 TV and the girls were off to Korean on their way to Slovakia. Going to Europe is of course not a short trip and so they decided to take some time in Korea to break the trip up. KT took them to the airport where they quickly checked in and went through immigration and security before heading to the lounge. Along the way there were some interesting characters which we looked at including a skeleton and a weird robot face. After a pleasant 10 hour flight we arrived in Seoul. We managed to get through the airport and take our bags to a shuttle bus which proved to be a little elusive. Once we were on the bus it was a quick 3 minute trip to the hotel and we quickly dropped off our bags before heading downstairs to the quicky mart. Quick snack and off to bed we went.

After lunch park run

 There was a bit of a break n the rain and having finished a big meal we thought to get some fresh air. We went to the park and the girls played a bit before going on to the pristine cricket pitch to run around. They certainly needed to burn off some energy. They were happier for doing so too.

Dumpling lunch

 TV took the girls for dumplings to celebrate having gotten fully packed ahead of time. Also and perhaps the more important reason, so that KT could get some sleep after her night shift. Food was delicious and plentiful. We all ate really well as a result.

Packing their carry-ons

 The girls were all tasked with packing their carry-ons for the trip. It was a bit of a slow start, but once they got started they made some good choices. We then helped them cull a few things to make sure they didn't take too much.
