Walking around the CBD

After sampling some winter activities we made the most of the sunshine as we walked through Hyde Park and the CBD. MV really enjoyed the fountain while SV was fascinated by bubbles, especially when the man put smoke into it. It ended up being a bit too much for MV who took a nap while SV and KT had a warm beverage. Even though she only had water, she still enjoyed it.

Winter wonderland Sydney style

We had a chance to take a family trip into the city where the winter wonderland festival was on. Of course this is Sydney so we had a lovely sunny day with man made snow, but that didn't detract from the fun at all. SV and KT froze everything for that lovely white freezy colour. Then they did a bit of sledging before going down a different slippery dip. MV was a bit too small so she watched and ran around. She didn't mind too much though.

Making democracy happen

We went to show the girls democracy in action. Oh and also take advantage of the tasty baked goods on sale.

Starting to swim

Continuing the swimming theme we shift our attention to SV and the progress she is making. After a similar 10 week course she is now able to swim short distances and does not mind being underwater. She is really enjoying having her head underwater which at the start of the course was something she very much avoided. Alas she has a bit of a handicap with swimming in that she does not naturally float. Consequently she is spending quite a bit of energy to stay above water, making it more challenging to go forward. Still she has fun and is getting better. After a good lesson SV likes to go home and work on some of her art to wind down.

Swim lesson continued

MV is getting very comfortable in the pool and water in general. She is now happy to walk on the mat and swimming underwater through the hoop. Despite the singing she seemed somewhat annoyed with the rain shower game though. MV has made some fantastic progress over the last 10 weeks and it has been quite exciting to watch it happen. After a good lesson she usually likes to stop and say hi to a little statue by the front door.

Coffee before class

MV had a bit of coffee before she got into the pool for that added bit of energy (not really). MV is a girl that certainly doesn't mind getting her hair wet. She goes jumps into the pool happily and doesn't mind going underwater. Her favourite activity though is collecting the toys and bringing them back into the bucket. By far her least favourite activity is to swim on her back.
