MV got to skip a day of school to go skiing with TV on her own. It was a lovely blue sky day and there was hardly anyone there. MV was really getting the hang of it and they ended up going to the top of the mountain and skiing down several of the runs. MV really improved and while she did get scared in a few sections, she managed to get down and had a good time.
Grandma CeCe got tickets to Hamilton as a present for SV and for the rest of us as well. We got to go to the theatre in Sacramento to see it and it was good. Everyone enjoyed it, most of all SV who got to bring her friend EJ. Afterward we went for a quicker dinner where the girls all got to have their own table and talk about whatever they wanted. Before we left we were complemented on their behaviour and conversations by one of the other tables.
December was a month full of activities both at school and home. SV had a dance at school for which she dressed up and was super excited about. We tried out the fireplace but that ended up with lots of smoke, so not the best outcome. We continued riding bikes to school when possible and working on various projects on home. We had a few friends over for a play and the girls made fairy bread as well. We had a fair few doctor's appointments to set up some baselines for everyone. It was a good month and a good way to wrap up a momentous year of change for our family.
We went to Grandma CeCe and Ron's house for a late Xmas lunch. Auntie Lanie and Uncle Terry came over too so we filled the big table nicely. We had another lovely meal before opening up some more presents together. It was a little bit of smaller gathering this year but it was very cozy.
When we woke up late in the morning we had a nice breakfast and then started opening presents. We had the fire on again and it was a very relaxed couple of hours enjoying time together.
After dinner it was time to open presents. Everyone was far too generous so it took as some time to get through everything. After that we played the dollar passing game which we also played last year. We had a really good time with that, playing two hands. EV won the first round and was super excited. Auntie Edina won the second round and was no less excited. After all the fun, it was time for us to head home and the younger two did not make it very far before falling asleep.
Soon it was time to sit down and have a traditional Slovak dinner for Xmas Eve. We all got dressed up and took a family photograph or twenty to commemorate the special occasion. The multi course dinner was delicious. Nagy really seemed to appreciate having her entire family there together with her.
