Driving Mr Moose

SV wanted to give the moose a ride around the house. Makes TV quite proud that she is developing into a little bus driver.

Chilly playground

SV's confidence on the playground continues to grow. Every time we go she seems to be climbing higher and faster, trying out new things. The cold certainly hasn't slowed her down either, even when she is the only kid on the playground.

Movie to lookout

Before we left the cabin we made sure to enjoy it a little bit more. So we watched a kids movie which SV liked despite her Michael Jackson like glove impersonation. On the way home we stopped at another look out with a short walk to take in the views and stretch our legs. It was a great little trip to enjoy the cold weather.

Racetrack hike

We went for a morning hike on our last day in the mountains to see what we could see. We ended up stumbling across an old disused race track named the Catalina Park Raceway (click on it's name for more information). It was a fascinating piece of history and now a peaceful walk. On our little adventure SV had time to not only smell the flowers but she also did a bit of sweeping using a pine needle branch.

Lounge chair lady

In the morning SV received a babycino and sat in the lounge chair overlooking the escarpment below. It was a fantastic start to the day for sure.

Christmas in July 2014

In Australia there is an unofficial celebration of Christmas in July. Since July is the middle of winter and one of the colder months it makes sense to do some of the christmasy things. We decided to celebrate with a roast and veggies in the cabin's lovely kitchen, making sure to take advantage of the great fireplace. SV liked relaxing in front of the fire after finishing her sweeping. Then she and KT struck poses in front of the fire place. After we finished off the dinner there was a fair bit more reading to be done. SV just could not get enough reading, especially of the 'new' books which were left at the cabin.

Katoomba Falls hike Part 2

There were a couple of good lookouts on our little hike. We eventually got to see the Katoomba Falls, with KT pointing them out, but they were not the most exciting falls since it has been a very dry winter. Didn't bother SV though as she found herself a little sandstone chair. We kept her going with a combination of sticks for support and snacks for energy. She did quite well to walk almost the entire 2 or 3 km walk. When she got into the car she kicked back and got right back into her books.
