On the second day in Lisbon we went on a geocaching hunt after putting together some puzzles. SV has recently gotten into it and is a keen hunter of caches. This time we started in a square and headed to a library to find the cache which ended up being hiden in one of the books. It was very cool. Afterwards we went and walked towards the train and stopped at the cool pink street with rainbow umbrellas for which the girls jumped around.
We had a respectable start time to the day and walked around our neighbourhood. We walked to a park which had views of the bay and pretty much all of Lisbon. Afterwards we went to have a look at the funicular just down the street from us before exploring the old part of the city. The girls got to play at a park and climb trees before we caught the funicular back up to our house to wrap up our first day. It was a great sunny inroduction to Lisbon and a way to get our bearings.
We are off to Portugal and ither places to start our big year of travel. We started out in style as we flew business from SFO to Zurich. We really enjoyed the Polaris lounge in SFO, especially with the sit down meals which were delicious. On the plane we had very comfortable seats and took advantage of the flat beds to get some sleep so we weren't as exhausted on our arrival into Europe. It was quite a comfortable flight which set us up nicely, even though it the seats were not nearly as luxurious as our Singapore Airlines experience. We had a short stop in Zurich and really enjoyed walking around the great airport there to stretch our legs. Afterwards we hopped on to a short flight to Lisbon to begin our adventures.
We went up to Redhawk for a buffet lunch and afterwards we played a bit since it was quite a cold day. The girls started by playing arcade games and finished the day by driving go carts. MV was super excited because she was actually big enough to drive one herself. EV was a bit sad to miss out but she was proud to see MV going so well.
TV managed to get away for a couple of days of skiing with his good friend Peter and his brother. So much fun to do that again and get back into the snow.
TV took the girls up to the snow and ended up having to drive quite a long way. It started snowing as they played in the snow and so on the way back the snow crept much closer to the house. Oh well, they had a fantastic time just playing and eating snow. It was a real proper snowy wonderland.
