Doing a bit of shopping

We don't go shopping often, so generally when we do it is fun. SV was making some suggestions to KT but may or may not have taken them. It wasn't until we found the toys that MV and SV really enjoyed the shopping. Each finding particular things that interested them. Once back at the hotel we made sure to make the most of the view before we had to head home.

Time in Hyde Park

On a sunny morning we went out for a little walk to get some air and check out the big chess set. The sunshine felt nice after several days of rain. The sun brought out not only the smiles, but also the buskers who the girls appreciated. SV was really interested in watching the giant game of chess since she just learned how to play.

Learning chess

TV and SV headed upstairs to the lounge for a bit of afternoon tea and a couple of games. They warmed up with a game of checkers before embarking on a game of chess. This was SV's first game and she learned the moves along the way. She really enjoyed it along with the snacks and of course the view. She did quite well and is eager to play more.

Hotel pool fun

A hotel stay is not complete if you don't take advantage of the pool, particularly one with a sweet view like this one. There were a fair few people going for a swim actually, but that certainly didn't dampen anyone's enthusiasm. After a quick shower and a change we went back downstairs to recharge a little bit before lunch. MV and SV were so tired as to get back into bed, but not quite tired enough to sleep. MV definitely had a good nap after lunch though.

More from Vivid 2018

We finished looking at the interactive exhibits before we took a look at some of the more iconic buildings all lit up. The girls really liked the moving light displays on the Opera House which was quite spectacular this year. Then we started making our way home since the girls were getting noticeably tired. A quick story and into bed to wrap up a nice evening.

Going to Vivid 2018

We got all bundled up and headed to Sydney's light festival, Vivid. We missed it last year and so our stay in the city enabled us to do it quite easily this year. The girls really enjoyed the interactive displays, especially the 1,000 light cranes display.
