The Red Centre Trip
We just got back last weekend from our two week holidays. Marta and Brad went home and we were left to sort through over 2000 photos from the two trips we took. The first of our trips took us to the Red Centre of Australia, Alice Springs and Uluru (Ayers Rock). Our tour begins with (there are some spoiler photos here for those who are planning on going there) Alice Springs as seen from a local hill. Alice is an interesting town where you are bound to meet someone you know or should know, but more about that in our next post. So our first stop on our tour was at a camel farm where KT enjoyed a ride and TV learned a few secrets. We also got to see a real Dingo. KT, I mean Indiana K poses with the adventure van before hiking around "The Olgas" or Kata Tjuta. We then went to see the sunset at Uluru to take a few photos, ok a lot of photos. The next day we got up at 5:15am, that's right 5:15am on a holiday (vacation), to see the sun rise over Uluru. We then had a chance to walk around Uluru and see some of the aboriginal paintings. We got to see Darth Vader (or Skeletor) and the Fetus on the side of Uluru. Then KT poses next to Uluru to show scale, we then had dinner made in the camp fire, it was delicious. The next day we went and had a look at King's canyon. It was an amazing place with great views. KT takes a minute to take in the views, and show others what the sign means. Our group then poses with the adventure truck as we climbed to the top of a hill. The weird white tree is a Ghost Gum whose powedery white bark can be used as a sunscreen when rub on a person's skin. We saw it in the valley of the palms which are shown, they grow in a very isolated gorge surrounded by very little other than scruby brush. The last photo may seem familiar to some of you as you flew into Sydney. Definitely not a bad sight to see. Until next time, keep it real.
