Cat cafe time

We stopped in at a cat cafe to pat some feline friends. The cafe ended up being a lady's house who fostered stray cats and found them new homes. It was an interesting if slightly weird experience. We had fun and the cats were very friendly.

Temple time

After breaky we caught three trains to get to one of the most famous temples in Tokyo, Sensō-ji Temple. Despite having two transfers the train trip was quick and enjoyable. The walk to the temple is almost as interesting as the temple itself, with the streets resembling old world Tokyo. At the temple both MV and SV took part in some of the ceremonies, including burning incense (although they were both apprehensive about the fire) and selecting a fortune. On the way to our next adventure we found one of the last blooming cherry trees around the temple. The girls enjoyed playing with the blossoms including throwing them in the air.

Second morning in Tokyo

Our accommodation provided us with a free breaky but we had to go to a specific cafe. It turned out to be a little bit of a hassle, particularly since we had to go against the flow of commuters. The cafe was quite nice and the breaky was tasty though. There was some pretty cool art of a certain character all around too. Afterwards though, it was time to hop on the metro to see what we could see.

Tokyo first day continued

The afternoon saw us walking through Shinjuku with its myriad of sings and heaps of people. We were surprised and shocked by Godzilla making an appearance. We took refuge in an arcade where the girls played a few games including the crocodile bopping game for the first time. SV also had a go at Mario Cart for the first time, and made a great recovery from 5th place to win the race. After the arcade where MV lost and then subsequently found her toy eagle, we stopped in at the local park. Turned out that the park wasn't exactly what we imagined, it was just a flat concrete space for basketball or soccer with lots of teenage kids hanging about. At last it was time for us to say good bye to Janet and head to our apartment where the girls needed some television to zone out after all the stimulation of the day.

First day in Tokyo

The first full day in Tokyo saw us catch a nice express train from our hotel airport. Once we dropped off our bags we caught up with our friend Janet and found a place to have some lunch. It was a decent noodle place where we had a chance to catch up and chat. The girls were getting a bit restless so we moved on in search of some fun activities. MV found a Kpop band cut out to take some photographs with along with some local girls. We even managed to find some blossoms to look at in a shady street.

Off to Japan

We packed a couple of bags and headed off to Japan. We had a few last minute flight changes but managed to still have a good trip. We made what was supposed to be a brief layover in Brisbane, but it turned into a decent layover during which we stopped in the lounge for a second breaky. Both the flights were really good with MV even managing to get in a nap despite watching multiple movies. On arrival into Narita Airport, we were all very excited. Even just the first night didn't disappoint despite us going straight to the hotel.
