Our trip to the snow

We just got back from an interesting and good ski trip here in Australia. As strange as it may seem, the skiing here in Australia is not too bad.

We started the trip from Sydney with Jarryd and Chrissy by having lunch in Gouldburn close to the giant sheep which enticed us to pull over and take photos. We were more than happy to oblige and get a better view of it's many glorious chins. We met up with our other friends, Veronica and Matt, before we drove the rest of the way to Jyndabine and our accommodation. We did a bit of shopping and renting of equipment, with TV trying on the Yeti look which seemed to suit well.
We discussed our plan of attack for the next day over some tasty pizza and photos.
The next day we headed for the slopes (Perisher) where it was full on raining and quite windy. It eventually let up for an hour or two before the thunder and lightning moved in and closed the lifts.
The next day we went to another ski field (Thredbo) where the weather was a bit better to start out with, but eventually turned ugly. It started snowing and the wind howled, swinging the chairlifts, but we were not to be dissuaded and we lasted through to the afternoon.
The last day we went back to Perisher hoping for a better day, which it sort of was. We had high winds and snow, but thankfully no lightning or rain. Perisher has an interesting train between two of the lodges that we took.
Some photos show us out there skiing and boarding in the conditions. The trees were not any better off than we were.
Eventually we took a warm lunch before finishing out the day and heading home. On the way back KT decided to harass some Bananas in Pajamas before bidding farewell to the mountains.

Mark at the ball game (well multiple games)

As it turned out PB was having a "Rugby Day" when Mark arrived in Sydney so we all took the train to Sydney Olympic Park to watch the Wallabies take on the French team. TV was a bit mismatched wearing a french shirt and a Wallabies scarf. We had a pleasant ride to the game with some of our friends and KT made a new friend, the air wiggler guy. We had some great seats and enjoyed an adult beverage despite the cold. There were a few token French supporters in the crowd despite overwhelming yellow crowd. We had a good time especially since the Wallabies managed to win nicely.

The following week Mark and TV went to the Sydney Swans match, an Australian Rules game. It was a beautifully warm day, with another set of good seats. We met up with Adam and his friend before seeing Jarryd and his crew at the field. The Swans ended up winning a good game that kept going back and forth. After the game the fans were invited to go onto the field and take photos. Taking a footy ball onto the pitch and kicking it around was also encouraged and in fact part of a tradition. It was definitely an experience to go to both matches which were very different. That concludes the photos of Mark's Sydney stay, so until next time, keep it classy.
