We had a lovely stroll with snacks of course along Ave des Champs-Élysées. We walked to the Arc de Triomph before walking back towards Place de la Concorde and seeing some interestingly design shop fronts. Although before we got there we found a metro station and went back to République from where we walked home. There is quite a lot of cool street art throughout Paris which we admired.
MV really wanted to take a rickshaw so we walked back to the tower and caught one across to the Ave des Champs-Élysées. On our ride we crossed the Seine and past the Princess Diana memorial. We also got a nice view of the Arc de Triomphe. We all enjoyed the ride as we got to wave to each other along the way.
We walked to a nice cafe in the nearby neighbourhood for some lunch. Along the way MV got a beret that she really liked. It was fun and everyone wore it for a little bit. The lunch was very pleasant and we really enjoyed celebrating MV. She in turn enjoyed the attention and special nature of the event.
We soon started making our way down the tower and picked up SV on the middle layer. The smaller two decided that they wanted to walk down the stairs to the ground so TV walked with them. It was quite fun to get the different perspectives as we walked down.
We stopped at the middle level and took in the view. SV didn't want to go any higher so she stayed and sat on the bench looking out while the rest of us went to the top observation deck. It was such a nice day and the views were really spectacular. We all enjoyed looking around and identifying the landmarks around. It was really nice to be able to go for MV's birthday. She's been keen to go to Paris and the Eiffel Tower for quite some time, so it was nice for her to be able to spend her birthday too.
We walked from Trocadero across the Seine and to the Eiffel Tower. The tower now has a ridiculous amount of security and huge crowds, gone are the days of being able to walk underneath it and look up from the base. Luckily we booked tickets early and left plenty of time to get through security. We then took the lift up the tower. Most of us were excited but SV was very nervous about going so high up.
