Opening the rest of the gifts

In the morning we got up and after playing in their rooms for quite a while we all came down to see if Santa left anything. This year it seems the girls were quite good and they both got a number of presents. SV was pleasantly surprised as she thought that she was a bit naughty and wouldn't get much from Santa. Instead she got her unicorn pegasus as she wanted. MV also got a unicorn to colour on and was happy.

Making xmas cookies

KT and the girls made xmas cookies using the toppings from Auntie Lanie. They had a lot of fun and the cookies ended up looking really good. Although there was a bit of a mess which took quite some time to clean up.

Opening some presents

On xmas eve we opened up a few presents from family and friends after our dinner. This gave us all something to play with while also giving us a chance to wonder about the other presents left under the tree. Plus we'll see what Santa brings over night.

2017 Xmas eve celebration

On xmas eve we got cleaned up a bit before taking a nice family photograph. The kids were playing and we took advantage of that to lay out all of the presents under the tree. The kids were certainly excited to see all of the gifts under the tree. Before they got to open any presents though, they had to have a good dinner which we all did.

Xmas city trip

We went into the city to check out the decorations and go to the dentist. We looked at the department store windows and the newly opened section of George St which is where the light rail will be running. Afterwards we went to the dentist so that SV and KT could get their teeth cleaned and checked out. While they did that, MV and TV went to TV's work to check out the view. It was MV's first time there so she was really awe struck. She had never seen the city from that perspective before. We finished off the trip with a dumpling dinner which was really nice after an initial tantrum from one of our party.

Building the gingerbread house

Again this year we the girls built the gingerbread house with KT's help. This year was a bit more elaborate in that there is a path leading to the house. The figures also have pets which is a new development. This was the first time that MV actually understood what was going on and fully participated. She was even a handy taste tester.
