After we had MV home for a few days KT noticed that her upper lip and tongue had some extra skin which prevented them from fully moving. These are known as an upper lip tie and a tongue tie. This prevented MV from sucking properly which led to her sucking more air in leading to more wind and discomfort.
To rectify this we took her in for an examination and eventually a surgery to cut the ties and restore movement to her lip and tongue. We made sure that the procedure was going to be helpful before consenting to it. MV was very good and after the 30 second surgery she calmed down very quickly. We now have to do exercises with her for two or three weeks to ensure the lip and tongue ties don't reform. It was a tough day but Bruce Lee gave us courage and MV was ok the rest of the day.
