Here is the first entry of another three part series. This time we found ourselves at Sydney Olympic Park where the last Telstra 500 V8 Supercar race was taking place. Our friends Caroline and James gave us some free tickets and we decided to go check it out. The V8's are an Australian racing series which uses production cars that have been modified for racing and tends to be a more family oriented series of events. TV was especially keen as he attended the V8's earlier in the year for work and he wanted to compare the two venues and facilities. Plus he was happy to take the cameras along and take photographs of the action, you can check them out on his website. We met up with our friend Keith who is a keen photographer and with whom TV photographed both this and the previous V8 race.
All three of us had a good time with SV wearing ear protection at first but then she got irritated with it and took her ear plugs out. At least we tried. Here are some of the photographs before the race as we wandered through the concessions area and had a little picnic lunch. With these events the pit crews and vehicles are actually quite accessible, and we took advantage by taking photographs with one of the race cars, although SV was a bit upset because it wasn't her favourite team.
